Recently the Traveling Teddy from Mrs. Vickie's preschool class visited the Northwest YMCA. Teddy was very excited to learn about all of the fun things NW has to offer it's members! One of the first things Teddy saw was our large thermometer. He wanted to know what we were measuring with that big thing... He did not think it was warm enough outside to need such a huge thermometer! We told Teddy about all the YPartners Campaign and how generous everyone has been. He was so happy to hear how the community was working together to help others. In Teddy's preschool class he had learned about the pillars of character, he told the NW YMCA staff he was so proud of his community for showing such good character. He said that NW gets an "A" for their compassion towards others.
Teddy spent a whole Saturday at the YMCA learning how important physical fitness is and meeting new friends. Teddy tried out many of our machines including the elliptical, treadmill and strive equipment. His favorite though was the exercise balls. It was very challenging for Teddy to get that big ball to cooperate with his little body but he said he loves a good challenge. He couldn't believe how much those exercise balls worked out his stomach and legs!
Teddy wanted us to tell all of the members and staff at the Northwest YMCA thank you for their warm welcome. He had a great time as a YMCA member and can't wait until his next visit to the Y when he gets to meet with his Wellness Coach!
