It is not uncommon for children to become less active when they are off from school for the summer. Help your kids maintain a healthy lifestyle by ensuring that they challenge their bodies through physical activity all year long. Schedule playtime for your family each day this summer. Get out of doors as often as possible and enjoy time together while being physically active. If your family takes a vacation this month, plan for activities that get everyone outside and their hearts pumping. Pack items that will encourage active play out-of-doors, such as a jump rope, Frisbee, baseball and bat, or gear that allows your family to play in the water. If it’s hot outside, don’t forget to make sure everyone drinks plenty of water to stay hydrated.
